Go-To App: Evernote

Ever waste too much time going through your online search history trying to find that great article you remember reading?

Want to keep better track of the various hotel and activity options you have been researching for your upcoming vacation? If so, take a look at what Evernote has to offer you.

No, this is not a paid endorsement, but rather a hearty recommendation for Evernote, a cross-platform app for note-taking, organizing, and archiving electronic information. Your “notes” can be text, a full webpage or webpage excerpt, a photograph, a voice memo, or a handwritten note. You can tag, annotate, edit, or comment on these notes and sort them into notebooks that you create. Everything syncs among platforms, so notes you clip from your laptop are available on your phone or tablet as well.

What can you use Evernote to do? See some interesting examples here and here. My current notebooks include: Learning, Finance, Travel, Buenos Aires, Family, Home, Garden, Cooking and Entertaining, Go-To Book, and Website. The free Evernote web clipper (see a demo video here) can be used instead of bookmarks and will help you keep organized across all your devices.

Plans are available at three levels: Basic (60 mg storage), Plus (1 gb storage) and Premium (10 gb storage). For information on pricing and features available at each level, see the Evernote website

If you regularly use Evernote, you will find less need to print out articles from the web, which in turn will help you reduce the paper clutter in your life. And when you are away from your computer, you can still refer to your saved notes or add new ones using your phone or tablet. What’s not to like?
